Washington Butler is from Puyallup, a city who was interested in arts and culture from an early age. She was a singer in choirs, entered contests for singing and also performed in schools and in community theatre. The actress moved from Los Angeles to study theatre at the University of Southern California and was later Belle the princess of Beauty and the Beast for one year and a half at Disneyland. After college, she determined to find an agent for talent and started looking for opportunities in television and in film. Butler guest starred in the TV program CSI: Miami. Butler was the main character for I Spit on Your Grave (2010), which is a remake of a 1978 cult movie of exactly the same name. While initially dissuaded by the nakedness of the film and the violence, its distinctive female edge and character arc convinced her to play the role. Butler starred in Jennifer Hills as a novelist who is brutally gang-raped at a cabin while traveling. Steven R. Monroe, director of the film, announced it on the 8th October the 8th of October, 2010. Butler began shooting The Stranger Within with Estella and William Baldwin, the psychological thriller in Mallorca, beginning in November of 2011. The film was shot in addition to New York City and Copenhagen, the film was scheduled for shooting at Copenhagen Denmark. She also became part of the crew for Treachery which starred Michael Biehn. The independent feature film began filming at Los Angeles in early 2012. Butler was co-starring with Michael Welch in 2013's horror film The Demented.
